Meet the Team at Education Spectrum
The administration and professional staff at Education Spectrum is focused on helping children with autism spectrum disorders to experience achievement and success in an environment of respect, compassion and understanding.
In addition to the “core team” you see here, the Education Spectrum team consists of our invaluable support staff and additional instructors and consultants that provide intervention and consultation services here at the center and in the field.
Diane Howard
Executive Director / Co-Founder
With over 40 years of experience in special education, both as a credentialed teacher and administrator, Diane Howard brings a wealth of experience and direction to the staff of Education Spectrum. As one of the founding partners, Diane is responsible for the oversight of all the components of Education Spectrum and also provides support to families through parent consultation.
Kathy Hollimon
Director of Training and Consultation / Co-Founder
Kathy Hollimon has worked extensively with individuals with autism for 22 years. She holds three teaching credentials and a master’s degree in human development. Her thesis was a case study on effective school based intervention for an individual with high functioning autism. She is also a Board Certified Education Therapist. Kathy’s expertise includes training and consultation services to school districts to develop effective programs for individuals with ASD and related disorders. When Functional Behavior Analysis or a specific behavior plan is needed, Kathy is frequently called in by both school districts as well as parents.
Kathy also facilitates groups at Education Spectrum and conducts training for parents and educators.
Dr. Laurie Stephens (aka “Dr. Laurie”)
Director of Clinical Services
Dr. Stephens is a leading expert in the diagnosis and treatment of children with ASD. She holds a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, and has been working in the field of autism for over 20 years. Dr. Stephens was previously the Director of Autism Spectrum Disorders Programs at The Help Group and the Director of Child Services for the Developmental Disabilities Program at University Hospital, Stony Brook (now The Cody Center). She has lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally. Her areas of specialty include the early diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome, developing social skills curriculum, facilitating early play skills and the development of theory of mind. Dr. Stephens provides Diagnostic and Psycho-Educational assessments, individual and family therapy, social skills training, school consultation and training for parents, educators and professionals.
Nathan Roettger
Program Director
Nathan Roettger joined Educational Spectrum in 2000 bringing with him over 10 years experience as a Special Education teacher and Resource Specialist. He holds both a BS in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Special Education. In addition to his role as Program Director, he works directly with many of the children and teens.

Jim and Cathy Gott
Jim and Cathy, who were instrumental in co-founding Education Spectrum, have two sons with autism. Jim is a retired Major Leauge Pitcher and currently coaches for the Angels organization. Cathy holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and recognized the need for this innovative program based on personal experience with their children. They’re passionate about helping other parents navigate their way through the joys and challenges of having children with autism.
